ARGENTINA, ISLA GRANDE DE TIERRA DEL FUEGO
Mapuches claim their land in an eviction dispute against the Italian textile group Benetton, which became the biggest landowner in Argentina in 1997, when it bought 2.2 million acres of land in Patagonia. Mapuche (Mapudungun; Che, "People" + Mapu, "of the Land") are the Indigenous inhabitants of Central and Southern Chile and Southern Argentina.
